‘Education Is’ is the new campaign launched by the Union of Students in Ireland (USI), which is calling on the Irish government to decide that third-level education should be publicly funded.

The Oireachtas Committee on Education is to decide if third level education will

  • Be paid for using by students using a student loan system, meaning students will be in more than €20,000 of debt once they graduate
  • Continue as it is with the payment of registration fees
  • Receive more investment by the State to ensure that any person is given the opportunity to achieve a third-level degree

The USI hope to stop the government introducing a student loan system and to help achieve this goal, they are holding a public demonstration in Dublin on 19 October and are inviting everyone to take part and support this cause.

Keep an eye on the USI Facebook page for more information leading up to this event.
