Niamh is not only the oldest of the three children in her family, but the oldest of all her cousins on both sides of the family too. Taking on the role of standard setter (which has been surpassed on multiple occasions since!) she finished her secondary schooling at home in Kildare, and attended DCU for four years, three of which were studying for a degree in Accounting and Finance, and the final year she completed a Masters in Business Studies.
After finishing in DCU, she was employed for three years in PwC, in the audit department. While working in audit she was engaged on various projects around Ireland and the UK, and went on secondment in New York for four months. During this time she continued to study for her professional accounting exams and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. Once qualified, Niamh went volunteering as an Accountant in Uganda for two years.
She returned home in 2013 to work in Trócaire back in Maynooth, where she still works as an International Accountant focussing on the humanitarian programmes. During her spare time, Niamh loves to travel, catch up with friends, and generally be active. She regularly goes to exercise classes and she enjoys swimming, kayaking, cycling and a bit of running – sometimes a combination of these in a triathalon! Niamh also really enjoys her food, eating out and most definitely all things chocolate!
