Is this your first time running? No

What are your reasons for running as a young person in politics?

I’m running for re-election to Waterford City and County council. I am putting myself forward as I believe younger candidates have an important role to play inside the council chamber and throughout their constituencies. In my six years as a Councillor, I have been proactive in proposing different, intuitive ideas to the council and the executives. I had the honour of being elected 1st citizen and Plenary Mayor of Waterford City and County at 22 years of age, the youngest in the countries history according to Waterford historians. In that time I believe I promoted the positive work that younger people and public representatives can achieve.

I run a local football club, I’m a member of multiple boards and committees and also work full time for a local radio station. I want to be re-elected so I can continue playing my part in Waterford’s future. As young candidates we can learn so much from experienced public representatives, but, there is a lot we can teach them. As a generation, we have made great strides towards equality through the marriage/repeal the 8th referendums. It’s important that we continue to play our role in this countries future on May 24th. Please use your vote on the day.
