Name: David McManus

Age: 26

Preferred pronouns: He/him

Party: Fine Gael

Local Electoral Area: Rathfarnham Templeogue for South Dublin County Council

Is this your first time running? Yes

What are your reasons for running as a young person in politics?

Young people may feel disinterested in politics but politics has an enormous interest in young people. From the local community infrastructure that we use on a daily basis to getting to work and ensuring we all feel valued in our community, the Council plays an important role in this regard. In big urban areas, the rents are too high and we need to build more houses. I am currently saving for a mortgage and affordability for first-time buyers is a key challenge that must be addressed. I want to be a new voice for the whole community and also address matters such as trees, footpaths and public transport.
