September 26, 2017 is World Contraception Day, an annual worldwide campaign to inform young people about their choices when it comes to contraception, and enable them to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. The World Contraception Day campaign envisions a world where every pregnancy is wanted.

Your Life, who run the World Contraception Day campaign, believe information is independence, and young people deserve to understand their rights and to receive sexual education free from shame or stigma. Sexual health services need to be youth-friendly and easily available to men and women.

Of the 208 million pregnancies that occur worldwide each year, 41% of these are unplanned. It’s estimated that 16 million women aged 15-19 give birth each year. Young people are more vulnerable to STIs than adults, and they're also more reluctant to seek treatment for STIs.

With so many options out there, it’s important to know about the different types of contraception and what might suit you best. There are lots of questions like what the different methods of contraception are, how to use it, and what will prevent STIs.
