SpunOut Volunteer of the Month
Shoutouts for the great work of our volunteers
This is an opinion of a young person and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of SpunOut.ie. It is one person's experience and may be different for you. If you'd like to write something for SpunOut.ie please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
SpunOut's motto is "by young people, for young people" and our volunteers are essential to this!
Among other things, our volunteers submit articles, videos and podcasts for the website. By sharing their stories and opinions, they aim to support, encourage, educate and engage their peers. Each month we're blown away by the content we receive and we love giving young people the opportunity to have their say.
While we value the contribution made by all our volunteers, we want to give a little shout out to one volunteer a month for their work!
Thanks to Teresa Clifford for sending through 6 excellent articles on a variety of topics. We loved reading what you had to say Teresa and we hope the SpunOut readers will too.
- Sticking with your new routine

Congratulations to a new SpunOut.ie volunteer- Rebecca Lalor! In the first two months of the year, Rebecca has gotten involved in a number of volunteering roles.
- Content contributor: Check out Rebecca’s great advice on getting through a nursing placement. At short notice, Rebecca put together a really informative piece for us ahead of International Epilepsy Day.
- Proof reader: To ensure our content is relevant and applicable to young people across Ireland, the content written by SpunOut.ie is proof read by our volunteers. Rebecca volunteered to proof read a number of articles this month.
Our volunteer of the month this month goes to both Ellen Butler and Sarah Behan. SpunOut.ie partnered with Young Social Innovators to showcase the YSI SpeakOut Tours across Ireland. Ellen and Sarah took on the roles of reporters at the Galway and Louth events, taking notes from interesting presentations, interviewing YSI staff and researching the work of YSI. They pulled together that information into two really insightful articles which help to showcase the work of the YSI teams and the social issues they're tackling.
- Ellen's article "YSI hits Galway on the next leg of the 2018 SpeakOut Tour" is here
- Sarah's article "Alcohol and drug abuse projects at YSI SpeakOut Tour 2018" is here
If you're interested in opportunities to develop your reporter skills, get in touch with email@example.com.
