If you have a disability, illness or injury and want to find a job, the EmployAbility Service can provide you with support. The service can help you both before and after you get a job.
How does the EmployAbility Service help job seekers?
The EmployAbility Service can offer you career advice and employment support. If you access the service, you will mainly be working with a job coach. Some of the things the coach can assist you with include:
- Identifying what skills and interests you have
- Finding suitable employment that suits your needs and abilities
- Drawing up a career plan based on your own ambitions
- Planning the on-the-job supports you’ll need
- Developing the skills you’ll need to do the job well.
If you are looking for work, the job coach can help you to prepare your applications. They can also contact possible employers in areas you are interested in.
If you want to continue working with them once you find a job, your job coach can continue to provide support and advice. For example, they can help you to complete on-the-job training and settle into your new workplace. Alternatively, they can provide support and advice only when you ask for it.

Who can use the EmployAbility Service?
If you want to use the EmployAbility Service, you must be between 18 and 65 and need support in finding and getting a job. You will need to be able to prove that you genuinely need the support of a job coach to find and secure work.
To access the EmployAbility Service, you will need to be job ready. Being job ready means you have the training, education, motivation and ability to look for employment.
How does the EmployAbility Service work with employers?
The EmployAbility service also supports local employers by offering a free recruitment service and giving them access to a database of skilled job seekers. The service can also offer employers advice on employment grants and supports such as the Job Interview Interpreter Grant, the Personal Reader Grant and the Workplace Equipment/Adaptation Grant.
Do I have to pay to access the EmployAbility Service?
The EmployAbility Service is completely free to use.

The EmployAbility Service works through community and voluntary organisations in local communities. Find your local EmployAbility service.

You can apply for the EmployAbility Service by contacting your local Intreo Centre or social welfare office. You can also find your local EmployAbility service and contact them directly.
