Ireland’s UN Youth Delegates for 2017/2018 Lauren Flanagan and Paul Dockery are undertaking a survey of young people in Ireland and the youth sector to gather first hand information on the issues affecting them and how they may be tackled. As part of this survey they are also looking for the views of Irish young people on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 goals which were adopted by more than 150 world leaders on the 25/9/2015 at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit. The goals aim to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of the UN's new sustainable development agenda.

What do the SDGs mean for Ireland?

The Irish Government is currently creating its first ever SDGs National Implementation Plan which will be launched in early 2018. Irish delegates will speak at the UN in New York in July 2018, outlining how Ireland plans to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

How will the survey help?

The information gathered from the survey will inform the Irish UN Youth Delegate's report which will be shared both with the Irish Government and governments throughout the world. The report will then further help create global strategy which will be implemented to achieve the SDGs.

If you are interested in taking part in this UN Youth Delegate survey it is available here and should be completed by the 12th of January 2018. For further information on the UN and the SDGs click here.
