Join the CF Ireland "One in 1,000" VHI Women’s Mini-Marathon team on June 5th 2017 and help raise much needed funds for people with CF in Ireland.

RTÉ Sports Reporter, Evanne Ní Chuilinn, and TV3 Red Rock actors, Ann Skelly and Róisín O'Donovan, who play on-screen sisters Rachel and Niamh Reid, have gotten Cystic Fibrosis Ireland's One in 1,000 campaign off to a running start with the launch of the charity's fundraising campaign on the athletics track at Irishtown Stadium in Dublin.

The energetic trio have given their full backing to the One in 1,000 campaign which aims to get one thousand women up and running for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland in the VHI Women's Mini-Marathon.

Funds raised will go towards a range of services to help improve quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis in Ireland including support for dedicated CF staff at cystic fibrosis units in hospitals, patient support grants and research.

The mini-marathon takes place over a 10K route and welcomes women of all fitness levels, from walkers and joggers to elite athletes. In 2017, Cystic Fibrosis Ireland is aiming to raise €120,000 for its vital services, and women are being encouraged to sign up for the charity at www.onein1000.ie before the April 28 deadline.

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs and digestive system leading to shortness of breath and persistent coughing, and potentially life-threatening lung infections. There are more than 1,200 men, women and children with cystic fibrosis in Ireland, with Ireland having the highest prevalence and some of the most severe types of the disease in the world.
