Together for Yes raise €400,000 in 3 days in crowdfunding campaign

Together for Yes, the national civil society campaign to remove the 8th Amendment from the constitution, launched a crowdfunding campaign on Tuesday 10 April to raise money for posters for their campaign.

With 6 weeks to go until the referendum on 25 May, a number of No posters have begun to appear around the country. Together for Yes released a video alongside their campaign asking people to help them raise money for their own Yes posters to be put up across the country.

Crowdfunding campaign

The group set an initial target of €50,000 over seven days to fund 5,000 posters across the country. Within three hours their target was reached, and then increased to €100,000. Over the course of the next two days, the figure continued to increase, with targets being met every few hours, until the final target figure of €500,000 was announced.

As it stands, over €450,000 has been donated by over 12,000 donors, with 4 days remaining on their crowdfunding campaign.

Sharing stories

Some people who have donated to the crowdfund have been sharing their stories on why they are supporting the Together for Yes campaign. These stories included people who have had to travel for an abortion alone, families who have lost their babies to a Fatal Foetal Anomaly and had to travel to a hospital in the UK, and those sharing why they are pro-choice.

Where will the money go?

While the aim of the crowdfunding campaign originally was to raise money for posters, the additional money raised will go towards other promotional materials for the campaign.

This includes:

• €280,000 to fund 28,000 posters across the country
• A national home leaflet drop to get a Together for Yes leaflet delivered to every home in the country.

Together for Yes hope that more posters and leaflets around the country will start conversations and get people talking about why it’s time to repeal the 8th Amendment.
