Local Electoral Area: Killiney-Shankill

Is this your first time running? Yes, I’m a first-time candidate

What are your reasons for running as a young person in politics? Young people under the age of 34 are more likely to die by suicide than any other cause of death. More and more of our friends and family are suffering from anxiety. Too many young people feel lonely and depressed. I believe that meaningful relationships, and a sense of community, are the best ways to reduce the likelihood that someone will feel depressed. Throughout my life I have been an active member of social groups and sports clubs and I’m very grateful for all the friendships I’ve formed.

I’m running to help create a strong, happy community and life experience. The local charity, sports, social, and volunteering groups deserve greater promotion! Belonging to a group creates friendships and meaningful relationships, it’s the best way to tackle loneliness and depression. Belonging to a local group makes us feel valued and helps us fulfil positive goals. We are fortunate to have so many charity, social and sports groups here in Killiney-Shankill. We should improve their funding and facilities. We should increase awareness of how people can join. This is why I decided to run in the local elections. I’m asking to be of service.
