But just aside from that, there’s so many other ways to get involved with climate activism and even just small things you can just do to be more environmentally friendly in your own life. At Fridays for Future. we have a huge emphasis on climate justice and there are loads of different ways to get involved in climate justice campaigns even small things like signing petitions or sharing things that way is a huge, huge help.

Anjelica Foley
And of course today on March 25th is our protests, the global climate strike. we have global climate strikes all throught the year and you’re more than welcome to attend you don’t have to be part of a group or anything that’s really open for anyone and we encourage you all to attend bring your friends, your family, even your pets if you want to.

Anjelica Foley
Everybody is welcome and we’re all learning. So my biggest piece of advice for anyone is just do it. I promise you won’t regret it.

Amy O’Brien
Absolutely. That’s amazing. And I suppose do you have any kind of message to anyone who’s really feeling nervous about getting into climate activism and maybe knows how to get into it, but is just feeling nervous and a bit scared of kind of taking that step

Anjelica Foley
Well, I think a lot of people can feel like that I’m luckily enough, we actually every few months we do these things called outreach calls. So what an outreach call basically is just a call, kind of like an average zoom call, and anyone is more than welcome to attend. And there’s no commitments made on those calls. It’s just an outreach call for you to join the call.

Anjelica Foley
Get to know a bit about who we are and what we do. And that way it’s a nice kind of easy icebreaker. You can kind of get to know us a bit of what we’re like and see if you want to get more involved that way. So there is something for everyone and there’s a place for absolutely everybody in this movement. So up to you really, whether it’s going to protest, signing petitions or joining the local Climate Action Group, there’s more than enough ways to get involved.

Anjelica Foley
And I do encourage you to get involved because I haven’t regretted it and I don’t think you will either.

Amy O’Brien
Amazing. So empowering. And so to continue learning about climate justice, we are incorporating one new climate fact into every episode. So Angelica what’s this week’s fact?

Anjelica Foley
So my climate fact of the week is that on the 12th December 2015, the day before Taylor Swift’s birthday, the Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty on climate change, was adopted by 196 parties at COP21 in Paris. That was a pretty big treaty as it was legally binding and it set aside the goal to limit global warming to preferably 1.5 degrees celsius.

Anjelica Foley
That’s a huge thing with the climate movement, and the #fightFor1point5 is a huge thing that we’re all trying to do because the big, big part of making sure that we get climate justice and that climate change doesn’t affect us.

Amy O’Brien
Amazing. So, yeah, 1.5 is something really important especially for countries already most impacted. So amazing. Thank you so much, Angelica and everyone, for listening to Take 5 For Future. So remember to follow @FridaysForFutureDublin on Instagram. And as you’ve heard from Angelica just DM them, if you want to get involved, as we’ve learned from her, you won’t regret it
