Write for SpunOut.ie’s Suicide Awareness Campaign
SpunOut.ie is looking for anyone aged 16-25 who wants to help open up conversations about suicide
This September, SpunOut.ie is running our Suicide Awareness Campaign and we’re looking for young people across Ireland to add your voice to the campaign!
Get involved in the campaign
- Do you have experience helping a friend with suicidal thoughts or behaviours?
- Do you have experience reaching out for support for suicidal thoughts or behaviours?
- Do you think we’re doing enough in Ireland to support people who feel suicidal?
We believe that young people across Ireland can help support each other by their sharing stories, lived experiences, advice and opinions to raise awareness about suicide. If you’re between 16 and 25 years old and living in Ireland, we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in writing an article or making a video to raise awareness about suicide and to support other people your age.
You do not need any writing experience. We’ll help you out every step of the way giving you feedback and suggestions for your piece. Your piece will be posted on SpunOut.ie and our social media so that thousands of young people across Ireland will feel more supported and encouraged to seek help.
What’s the campaign about?
Suicide is a complex issue that many people find difficult to talk about. Many people suffer in silence, and it is not always obvious when a person is struggling with their suicidal thoughts. It’s important to be open to having a conversation about suicide in order to find ways to prevent it and offer support.
Our Suicide Awareness Campaign aims to open up conversations about suicide, encourage people to seek help when they need it and to give young people the tools and skills they need to help someone close to them who is dealing with suicidal thoughts. Throughout the campaign, we’ll be posting suicide related factsheets and lived experience pieces on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat.
