What’s happening this International Women’s Day?

March 8th will see a lot of women coming together to mark the occasion

March 8th is International Women's Day. Will you take part in your city’s women's rights events and #BeBoldForChange?  

Each year International Women's Day is celebrated around the world with thousands of events such as global gatherings, conferences, awards, festivals, concert performances, speaking events, and more. These events are held by women's networks, corporations, charities, educational institutions, government bodies, political parties, the media and further communities.

Here are a sliver of events taking place in Dublin, London, Zurich, New York City, and Washington D.C., which are among thousands that are happening around the world.

Dublin

The Irish premiere of Women and Men, presented by the French Embassy in Ireland will be screened on 6th March at 6:30pm at Alliance Française. Admission is free with RSVP to www.ambfrance-ie.org. More information can be found here.

Trinity College’s International Women's Week is taking place from 6th – 10th March. It is an annual weeklong festival celebrating women's achievements and promoting gender equality. They host events such as readings, workshops, seminars, and more. The full list of Trinity’s International Women’s Week events can be found here.

The National Women's Council of Ireland also list a number of events taking place on their website.

London

WoW Festival (Women of the World) is taking place at Southbank Centre, which concentrates on the issue of gender equality and celebrates the achievements of women and girls. More information can be found here.

Zurich

International Women's Day Walk Be Bold for Change is meeting at noon at Ganymed Statue (Bürkliplatz). There will be a short program and then walkers will proceed to walk across the Quaibrücke and end with a snack at 13:00. More information can be found here.

New York City

The Catalyst Awards Conference will be held at New York Hilton Midtown on March 8th. There will be a dinner to honor organizations recognizing the importance of women. More information can be found here.

Washington D.C.

Eleanor Allen, Water For People's CEO will give a TEDx Talk: Water is a women's issue, on March 8th at the Inter-American Development Bank. Doors open at 4:30 and the program begins at 5:00. Admission is free. More information can be found here.
