Name: Shane Folan

Age: 26

Preferred pronouns: He / Him

Party: Labour

Local Electoral Area: Donaghmede

Is this your first time running? Yes

What are your reasons for running as a young person in politics?

I’m passionate about politics. I believe it can be a force for positive change and that young people need to be more involved, at every level. In marriage equality and the repeal referendum, so many young people got engaged and active. I think we need this sort of change at every level, not just in referendums.

Local politics matters. It determines housing planning, environmental policies, and many more things. So many young people are impacted by the housing crisis, and yet our voices are not being heard. I want to ensure the City changes progressively and works for all people who live in it.
