Occupy Parking Spaces
Keep an eye out for the temporary pop-ups in the city’s parking spaces tomorrow!
Dublin Park(ing) Day is taking place on Friday, Sept 20th and will see parking spaces around the city being reclaimed and popping up as temporary cafes, playgrounds, a beach, giant board games and mini theatres as well as much more.
From noon to 6pm, the parking pop-ups will give people a space to do a multitude of activities like protesting, learning, playing (kids and adults) as well as just somewhere to chill out. And did I mention we’re supposedly getting awesome weather this weekend so what’s not to love?
The whole idea came about from an art project in San Francisco back in 2005 and now runs in over 180 cities worldwide.
There is a map of the goings on below but some of the must-sees for me will be the beach in Raheny village, the cooking classes on Mountjoy Square, the Note to Self on South William St., and the Dance Machine on King’s Inns St. Follow the guys on Twitter to keep up to date with the day's events!
The event is run in conjunction with EU Mobility Week and you can find out more about that here.
