All Leaving Cert and Junior Cert students to get full marks in cancelled oral and practical exams

The Department of Education have announced that all students doing their Leaving and Junior Cert this year will get full marks in the oral and practical examinations which have been cancelled. 

The exams were meant to take place between the 23rd of March and the 3rd of April. They have now been cancelled due to closures of the schools, as a safety measure to slow the spread of COVID-19/ Coronavirus. 

Which oral and practical exams have been cancelled? 

The following exams have been cancelled: 

  • Oral tests in Leaving Certificate Irish and the Modern Languages of French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Japanese
  • Practical performance tests in Leaving Certificate Music
  • Practical performance tests in Junior Certificate Music and Home Economics

All students who were due to take these examinations will receive full marks for them instead. If you have any questions regarding these cancellations please contact your school. 

When will the schools open back up again? 

Currently, we do not know when schools will reopen or if the rest of the Leaving and Junior Cert examinations will take place. We will keep you updated with all the latest news on the examinations as is unfolds.
