You may worry or be unsure of what to do if you are feeling sick at the moment and do not have COVID-19 (Coronavirus) symptoms.
If you do feel very unwell and need to see a doctor it is important that you get checked out.
What services are available?
It is really important that you continue to look after our health during this time. If you do need medical advice or attention here are some of the services that are available to you.
Local doctors are still open
Most local GP services should still be open, although you need to call to make an appointment first rather than turning up. This is to make sure that the surgery knows you are coming and they can help you follow social distancing guidelines they may have in place. Some doctors may also speak to you over the phone to discuss your symptoms and bring you in for a face to face appointment if they feel it is needed. It is best to call your local GP and find out what service they are providing at the moment. You can find your local doctor here.
Out of hours doctor
If you need medical attention or advice outside of the times that your local GP service is open you may need to contact your local ‘out of hours’ doctor. Here is a list of out of hours services. It is important to ring them to make an appointment or for advice.
Urgent medical attention
If you need urgent medical attention you should go to your nearest Accident and Emergency department. They are still open to patients who need urgent care outside of those who have or may have COVID-19 (Coronavirus). If you cannot get to your nearest hospital and need urgent medical attention you should call 999 or 112.
Most dental services are closed for routine dental appointments. Some services are open for emergency dental appointments where patients need urgent dental care. To find out if your local dentist is providing these services it is best to ring them up to find out what help they can provide you. In some cases your dentist may speak to you over the phone to assess your symptoms and see how they can help. You can find details of your local dentist here.
