What are your reasons for running as a young person in politics:
I always had an an interest in politics and community development. I
studied BSc Government and MSc International Public Policy and Diplomacy
in University College Cork and want to use my experience, (University as well
as working with National Representatives, such as Michéal Martin TD and
Aindrias Moynihan TD along with working at the Consulate General of Ireland,
Edinburgh following the June 2016 Brexit vote) to support West Cork in
combatting the challenges it faces such as rural-urban migration and also to
ensure traditional sectors such as Agriculture, Fishing and Tourism are
protect along with developing new economic opportunities for West Cork.
I feel it is important to have younger people’s voices heard as
circumstances have changed over the years for young people in West Cork, as
many jobs have moved to the Cities and buying or building your own home
has become far more difficult. I want to influence change in these
areas to improve the quality of life for younger people in West Cork.
