Young Social Innovators (YSI) has been named as one of the 15 finalists in the Google.org Impact Challenge and received €50,000 in funding. If they receive the most public votes, they will receive an additional €50,000 as the People’s Choice winner.

Who is YSI?

Young Social Innovators (YSI) is Ireland’s largest social awareness education programme for teenagers aged 15 to 18. YSI empowers youth to become social innovators in their community and to take action for social change to build a fairer, more inclusive society. Social innovation, as YSI defines it, is “the practice of using creativity to develop solutions which improve the well being of people and society.”

What is the Google.org Impact Challenge?

The Google.org Impact Challenge supports local nonprofits with creative ideas to create economic opportunity in the Dublin area with €50,000 in funding.

With the funding from the Google.org Impact Challenge, YSI will aim to empower Ireland’s most disadvantaged youth to address local issues using robotics and STEM. Through a series of workshops, over 1,000 Dublin City teenagers will participate in interactive learning modules to create positive social change. Learn more about their project on Google.org.
