Intreo is the name of the Public Employment Service in Ireland. It is a service provided by the Department of Social Protection. Intreo is responsible for managing a range of resources around employment and income support. It provides services to both jobseekers and employers.

If you are looking for a job, Intreo can help you to find a suitable employment opportunity. They do this by advertising job listings online, and by directing individual jobseekers towards relevant opportunities. 

If you want to search for jobs online and create a profile to match your skills and experience with available jobs, you can visit Intreo’s job search website jobsireland.ie. This website also lists apprenticeships, and vacancies in the Work Placement Experience Programme, Youth Employment Support Scheme and Community Employment Programme.

It may be possible to keep some income supports while you are on an education or training course. This depends on the type of course, the length of course and how long you have been getting a qualifying social welfare payment.

What should you bring to an Intreo centre?

You should bring your PPS number and proof of your address, such as a utility bill in your name.

When does it open?

Opening hours can vary depending on the centre. It is possible to visit during walk-in hours, or schedule an appointment for a specific time. If you wish to apply for an income support such as Jobseeker’s payment, you can do so on MyWelfare.ie
